Det våras för galningarna

I denna Mel Brooks stora hyllning till och drift med Alfred Hitchcocks filmer har den välrenommerade psykologen Richard H. Thorndyke (Mel Brooks) just blivit utnämnd till ny chef för mentalsjukhuset ”The Psycho-Neurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous” utanför Los Angeles. När han har anlänt och hälsat på sina nya medarbetare och äntligen blivit ensam i sitt nya arbetsrum knackar det på dörren. In kommer hans gamle psykologilärare professor Lilloman (Howard Morris) och de är båda mycket glada att återse varandra. Professorn tycker att Richard har varit hans bästa elev någonsin och är mycket imponerad över hans karriär efter psykologiutbildningen:

Lilloman: "Oh Richard, Richard, I am so proud of you, so proud my boy, ja. Head of your class at Johns Hopkins, associate professor at Darthmouth, full professor at Harvard, winner of the Nobel Prize, und now: the head of the most prestigious psychiatric institute on the west coast!"

Lite senare ska Thorndyke åka på psykologikongress i Los Angeles och där ska han hålla tal. När han ska gå upp i talarstolen blir han av doktor Colburn (Arnold Soboloff) presenterad på följande vis:

Colburn: "May I have your attention, may I have your attention please! Fellow members of the American Psychiatric Convention! It is a pleasure and an honor to present the new head of The Psycho-Neurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous, winner of the Nobel Prize for his works in the use of chemotherapy on severe psychosis, the distinguished doctor Richard H. Thorndyke."
