The big bang theory

Sheldons (Jim Parsons) mamma Mary (Laurie Metcalf) är på besök och Sheldon har planerat in hela hennes vistelse, men hon är inte riktigt med på de saker han sett ut för dem att göra:

Sheldon: "I've got a treat for us tomorrow, Mom. I'm taking you to see Saul Perlmutter give a lecture about his Nobel Prize-winning work in cosmology. And the best part is, at the Q and A afterward, I've worked up a couple of 'Q's' that will stump his sorry 'A.'"
Mary: "I don't know, Shelly. I thought we could do a little sightseeing."
Sheldon: "What sight is better than your little boy embarrassing a Nobel laureate?"

Nu blir det som Mary vill och inte som Sheldon vill, Mary och Sheldons kompisar (som är lite bättre på att agera socialt) går och shoppar, kollar på kyrkor och besöker den stora Hollywoodskylten medan Sheldon och hans så kallade flickvän Amy (Mayim Bialik) går på föreläsningen. Deras diskussion efteråt är inte så munter dock...

Sheldon: "That lecture was a waste of time. I made more accurate diagrams of the expansion of the early universe on the nursery wall with the contents of my diaper."
Amy: "Are you getting sick?"
Sheldon: "No, I'm just allergic to people who get Nobel Prizes for no good reason."

Stackars Saul Perlmutter dyker senare upp i avsnittet "The Speckerman Recurrence" och får då utstå mer spott och spe från Sheldon.
