Emily in Paris

Emily (Lily Collins)  är amerikanskan som jobbar på en liten reklambyrå i Paris, Savoir, eftersom de blivit uppköpta av en större amerikansk byrå. Hon lyckas göra sig ovän med sin chef Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) från typ dag ett och det är alltid aningen kyligt mellan dem, mest för att Emily kommer in med fräscha (amerikanska) idéer medan Sylvie värnar om det genuint franska (och icke-amerikanska).

Emily är sugen på att få med kosmetikaföretaget Durée som kund, och när hon föreslår detta för Sylvie så möts hon av iskyla och får ett annat uppdrag istället, ett uppdrag från ett svenskt sängföretag:

Sylvie: "Busy."
Emily: "I just noticed you don't have a cosmetics company on your roster."
Sylvie: "What an illuminating insight."
Emily: "Did you ever have one? Bobbi Brown? Laura Mercier? Durée?"
Sylvie: "A representative from Hästens Luxury Beds is coming in tomorrow, and I expect you to have great campaign ideas."
Emily: "Of course. But can I just go back to the cosmetics question?"
Sylvie: "No."
Emily: "Okay."

Emily franska kollegor Luc (Bruno Gouery) och Julien (Samuel Arnold) är gärna med och spånar på koncept för Hästens:

Luc: "Bring the Eiffel Tower to bed."
Emily: "Huh?"
Luc: "For Hästens. That could be the slogan."
Emily: "They're Swedish, so using a Paris landmark may not..."
Luc: "No, no, no, no, no. Not the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower."
Julien: "He means the sex position."
Luc: "The woman is on all fours, and the two men, one in front, one in back, and they, uh… How you say clap?"
Julien: "High-five."
Emily: "Wait, why do they high-five?"
Luc: "To make shape. Eiffel Tower."
Emily: "Please put your hands down."
Julien: "Uh, but then it's only London Bridge. Not as fun."
Luc: "Oui, c'est vrai."

Det har blivit dags att pitcha idéer för Hästens. Sylvie berättar om när Tilda Swinton sov i en glaslåda i New York som ett konstprojekt och pitchar sedan att ett par ska sova i Hästens sängar på Champs-Élysées i Paris. Representanten från Hästens tycker om idéen, men älskar den inte. Emily tar då till orda och föreslår att man ska ställa ut sängar här och var i Paris, så att influencers kan ta bilder på sig själva i Hästens sängar med Paris i bakgrunden. 

Sylvie: "In London, Rome, and New York, huge crowds watched Tilda Swinton sleep in a box. Why?"
Klara: "Because she can make anything interesting."
Sylvie: "In London, Rome, and New York, huge crowds watched Tilda Swinton sleep in a box. Why?"
Klara: "Because she can make anything interesting."
Sylvie: "Yes. But also because watching the act of sleep is intoxicating. We watch our babies sleep. We watch our lovers sleep. And now… As Parisians window-shop on the Champs-Élysées, they'll see two gorgeous models sleep and spend the whole day on a Hästens bed. An unflinching but flattering life portrait of luxury."
Klara: "Hmm. I like, but not love. I feel like I've seen it before. Do you have any other ideas?"
Luc: "Bring the Eiffel Tower..."
Sylvie: "No."
Emily: "May I?"
Sylvie: "If you must."
Emily: "Our dreams transport us to magical places that we try to capture in film, music, and art. But we only dream when we sleep deeply. The superior quality of Hästens beds allows us to dream our best dreams, but why must that only be in our bedrooms? Why can't it be under the stars? We should be able to fall asleep anywhere. Let's harness the power of social media and ask people to come sleep with us. Stage the bed in the most irresistibly Instagrammable spots in this beautiful city: the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Louvre. And post photos of real people, not just models, sleeping and dreaming. All thanks to Hästens."
Luc: "Perhaps even under the Eiffel Tower. High-five?"
Emily: "No."

Emilys pitch verkar ha landat bra för Hästens godkänner idéen. Sylvie är som vanligt frostig när Emily väl har gjort bra ifrån sig.

Sylvie: "Emily!"
Emily: "Yes?"
Sylvie: "Is this the American way to overpromise and underdeliver?"
Emily: "Excuse me?"
Sylvie: "Klara from Hästens wants to do your outdoor bed idea, and now she expects their bed to be in le Louvre. So maybe you can find a nice spot for the mattress under the Mona Lisa. Good luck."

Emily gör sitt bästa att få ställa en säng på Louvren, men det går inte för sig. Efter en natt på stan tillsammans med sin kompis Mindy (Ashley Park) där Emily instagrammar högt och lågt hör Klara av sig igen. Hon har sett en av Emilys bilder där hon har en gata som leder upp till kyrkan Sacré-Cœur, och tycker att det vore ett jättebra ställe att placera en säng - och att Emily instagrammar det första fotot från sitt konto (som ändå har 20000 följare).

Sylvie: "Oh, that's Place Dalida, right?"
Emily: "Yes. What is this about?"
Sylvie: "Klara, that Nordic witch from Hästens, called, and she wants to stage the bed there."
Emily: "That's..."
Sylvie: "I'm not finished."
Emily: "Okay."
Sylvie: "She wants you to post there first."
Emily: "Why me?"
Sylvie: "Yeah, I've been asking that question since you arrived. I assume it's to draw a crowd and encourage others, like those followers of yours, to post from there too." 

Sagt och gjort, en säng ställs ut vid slutet av gatan och Emily blir den första som lägger ut en foto därifrån. Emilys väninnan Camille (Camille Razat) kommer förbi och undrar vad som står på:

Camille: "Emily?"
Emily: "Oh, salut! Come."
Camille: "What is this?"
Emily: "It's a social media installation for Hästens beds. They're one of our biggest clients, and I thought of the idea after our night at Van Gogh. You inspired me."
Camille: "I did?"
Emily: "Mm-hmm. I wanted you to be the first to see it. I'm calling it Dormir à la belle étoile."

Van Gogh som hon pratar om var en utställning där Van Goghs tavlor blivit en interaktivt utställning, något som tydligen inspirerade Emily till den här reklamkuppen, som blev väldigt lyckad.
